"The family. We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."
--Erma Bombeck
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

I've forgotten....

I’ve forgotten how hard newborns are. I think that was meant to happen. If I’d remember how rough those first few months were, I probably wouldn’t have had another one.

Newborns cry…..a lot. And sometimes (most of the time) it’s hard to figure out what’s wrong.
Newborns go through a lot of laundry.
Newborns smell…..sometimes good…most of the time not so good.
Newborns have no concept of day or night….they eat and poop whenever they want.
Newborns require a lot of supplies.
Newborns are very stiff and hard to clean and get dressed.
Newborns don’t care who they pee, poop, or puke on.
Did I mention that newborns cry? A.l.o.t.

But, I’ve also forgotten how incredible newborns are. I think that’s meant to happen, too. If we remembered how wonderful they are…then each one wouldn’t be as special and we wouldn’t appreciate the sweetness.

Newborns bring such a special feeling into your home…that fresh from heaven feeling.
Newborns do smell bad…most of the time…but when they smell good….ohhhh, they smell good.
Newborns sleep a lot….and oh how I love to cuddle with a sleeping baby.
Newborns smile a lot…even if it’s just gas, it still melts my heart.
Newborns do poop a lot…but their little bums are so cute, it’s almost worth it.
Newborns stay where you put them.
Newborns make sweet cooing sounds…not sassy, yelling ones.
Newborns remind you how important eternal families are.
Holding a newborn instantly takes away all the ugliness of life and gives you a glimpse of heaven.
