"The family. We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."
--Erma Bombeck
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

Finally, I get to go outside...

Emily loves the outdoors. Evertime we are sitting in the living room, she is pointing to let us know that she wants to go outside. It wasn't raining today so we let her go outside and play on her favorite toy slide. Her favorite spot to sit is on the grass. She loves to pull it out of the ground and watch it fall out of her hand. We caught her making some cute expressions while she was playing.

First Steps Owie

Emily started taking her first steps a few days ago. While she's walking
she has to jabber to herself...it must help her concentrate. While
she was at Grandma Sant's house yesterday, she learned how to
walk and kick a ball. While she was practicing,
she slipped and cracked her head on a plant stand. She had an
instant bruise and then started bleeding. She's also
starting to get a black eye. We felt so bad!!! This is her
first major accident and I'm sure there are
many more to come. I wondered if she would be scared
to try walking again, but she soon forgot about her owie and took
off again. We are so proud of our little girl.

Emily's 1st Birthday Pictures

Our little sweet Emily has turned a year old today. She is getting big and she is ready to walk and get into everything.

Emily keeps getting more and more hair everyday. It gets more curly and red as the days pass.

Her personality has really started to show. She is always smiling and having a good time with her family.

She can now say about 10-12 words. Bub = blanket, Ba = bottle, she says baby for everthing that is soft and lays her head down on whatever it is and cuttles with it.
